Two trades, one team
The gap between drywall and paint is where schedule and quality go to die.
On most builds, drywall and paint are separate subs — separate crews, separate schedules. The drywall crew leaves, the painter shows up days later, finds issues, and now you're coordinating the back-and-forth. We close that seam. One team owns both.
Why one team
One team for the home's two biggest finishes.
One schedule
We sequence drywall and paint ourselves. The handoff stops being your problem and becomes one continuous, internally managed process.
One standard, both finishes
Paint only looks as good as the drywall under it. When one crew owns both, there's no painter blaming the drywaller. It's right because it's all ours.
Timing that protects finishes
The moment drywall closes out, we prime everything and paint ceilings and garage — before cabinets, floors, and millwork go in. Early prime protects the substrate; early ceilings mean no overspray on the finishes the homeowner paid the most for.
Fewer patch trips
A single patch can take seven trips across two trades. Our 2-in-1 crew cuts it to about four. Multiply that across an entire custom home.
Fewer trips, faster build
One patch. Seven trips become four.
The traditional way — two trades, up to 7 trips
Hang → first-coat tape → second-coat mud → third-coat mud → sand → paint → second coat.
The Canvas 2-in-1 way — about 4
- Hang + first-coat tape (hot mud) + second-coat mud
- Third-coat mud
- Sand + paint
- Second coat paint (if needed)
Fewer trips means fewer days, fewer scheduling slots to fill, and less coordination on your end — which lowers cost on every patch, change, and repair in the home.
You already know the standard
The crew that finishes your drywall now carries it through to paint.
Through Canvas Drywall, we've finished some of Utah's most demanding custom homes — for builders like McEwan Custom Homes, Ezra Lee Design + Build, Chatwin Homes, Grove Homes, Greg Young Construction, and Artisan Builders. Parade of Homes builds. Level-5 ceilings under raking light. That same crew, the same documentation, the same jobsite discipline now runs straight through to paint. You're not gambling on a new painter — you're extending a standard you've already seen on your own sites.

The Canvas Care Package for Custom Homes
The same level of care, framing to final coat.
Most builds treat paint as a separate job that inherits whatever the drywall crew left behind. Ours doesn't. The same team that finished your walls primes and paints them — so the standard never drops at the handoff. Every stage is inspected, documented, and shared in a project folder you can access anytime.
It starts with drywall:
Pre-Hang
Wall-by-wall framing alignment and utility mapping, photo-documented.
Pre-Tape
Buried-utility verification and a readiness check before finishing.
During Installation
Top-tier crews, strict jobsite standards, weekly photo progress reports.
Post-Sanding
Detailed cleaning, material removal, and a documented closeout report.
Repairs & Changes
One tracked, ticketed, photo-documented process with transparent pricing.
The handoff that doesn't exist on most builds
On a typical job, the painter shows up days after the drywallers, discovers problems, and re-preps work someone else created. There's nothing to discover here. The crew that built the surface paints the surface — so the transition from sanding to primer happens inside one team, with no new sub to mobilize and no gap in your schedule.
And it carries straight into paint, with the same care:
Prime & Seal
The moment sanding closes out, we prime everything. Early priming locks in the surface we just finished, gives every wall a uniform base, and protects your drywall investment before another trade touches it. Coverage confirmed and photo-logged to the project folder.
Ceilings & Garage
Sprayed while the home is still empty, before cabinets, flooring, and millwork arrive. Doing ceilings early means zero overspray risk to the finishes the homeowner paid the most for — and a cleaner runway for every trade that follows.
Trim & Doors
Once doors, casework, and millwork are installed, we return to finish them in a premium Sherwin-Williams enamel. Clean lines, back-brushed where it counts, with floors and cabinetry masked and protected.
Wall Finish Coats
Walls go last, after trim, so cut lines stay crisp. Paint is boxed for color consistency across the entire home, with a documented sheen and color schedule per room.
Daily Protection & Standards
Floors, cabinetry, windows, and finished millwork covered every single day. Same discipline as drywall: clean workspace, no smoking, daily cleanup — because by the paint phase, there's a lot of other trades' finished work to protect.
Final Walkthrough & Closeout
We walk every room with you and the homeowner, document the punch list with photos, and upload a final closeout report to the shared folder. The same documented stamp of approval you already get on drywall — now on paint.
Across both phases: weekly photo reports, one shared project folder, and transparent, tracked pricing on every change. One continuous chain of custody from bare framing to finished walls.
